Wat ga je doen?

BALLROOM WORKS (Utrecht Ballroom Scene) organises events, workshops, and community programmes for the ballroom scene in Utrecht, with a focus on queer and trans people of colour. To support our growing activities, we are looking for a Marketing & Communications intern.

During this internship, you will work closely with the Director and support the promotion of classes, workshops, community events, and our annual Ball. Your tasks include managing social media (mainly Instagram), creating content such as visuals, short videos and written texts, supporting newsletters and website content, and helping to increase our online visibility. You will also assist with community outreach and building partnerships with cultural organisations and artists.

You will be part of a small grassroots organisation where you will receive responsibility and have a direct impact on the visibility and development of the community.

Wat wij vragen

  • Minimaal mbo4 werk- en denkniveau;
  • Interest in marketing, social media, or communications
  • Interest in ballroom culture and queer community organizing
  • Interest in working with grassroots cultural organizations
  • Currently studying or having completed a relevant study
  • Fluent in English, Dutch is a bonus but not required
  • Creative and proactive attitude

Extra informatie

This internship is for approximately 16 hours per week, usually spread over two working days (Monday and Thursday) at our office in Amsterdam (near Vondelpark). There is some flexibility in working hours and occasional possibilities to work remotely when appropriate.

The internship runs from April, May or June 2026 until August 2026 (earlier start preferred).

As a small grassroots cultural organisation, we offer a hands-on learning environment where you will be closely mentored by the Director and gain insight into organising community events, marketing campaigns, and running a non-profit organisation in the queer cultural sector. You will have the opportunity to build your portfolio, expand your professional network, and see the direct impact of your work within the community.

We especially encourage applications from people connected to the ballroom scene, people of colour, and/or people who identify as queer, trans, disabled, or from other underrepresented groups.
