Internship Sustainability Fostering Circular Economy in Amstelveen

The world has made great strides in improving resource efficiency through technology, resulting in an economy dominated by traditional consumption patterns. There is no doubt that this “linear” economy is testing the planetary limits and threatens business at the same time. There is a need for change as our planet is required to provide the resources needed to facilitate a dignified existence for 9 billion people in 2050. Therefore, the current ‘take, make, dispose’ production model should shift to a ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ mentality. The latter is referred to as a Circular Economy that is aimed at optimizing resource efficiency, in which “waste” is high-grade recycled or recovered for new user- or production- cycles.
 

At KPMG Sustainability there are approximately 40 consultants working on a daily basis on sustainability issues with our clients. We are looking for an intern to support the circular economy team and support large international projects and deepen knowledge on specific topics. The objective of the projects is to boost circular economy throughout Europe by helping companies in different regions to seize new opportunities. Through capacity building, networking and exchanges of innovative solutions these projects aims to facilitate the transition towards circular business models.
 

You will support the team in helping preparing training modules, desktop research, brainstorming and reporting. The internship will allow you to not only work with KPMG, but with a range of renowned institutes in our network, and with companies as well as governments.  
 

We are looking for someone with a passion for sustainable business and a strong understanding of a circular economy. You are eager to learn, pro-active and hardworking. This internship offers the ideal platform for you to further develop yourself and create a network of interesting people.
 

Who are you?
You are currently enrolled in a EU university Master’s degree in an economic, environmental  or technical discipline, preferably sustainability and business oriented. You have an interest in working in consultancy and you have strong conceptual and analytical skills. Further:

• You can work independently and appreciate the challenge of working with multiple stakeholders
• You have work or study experience abroad
• You are highly proficient in spoken and written English, Dutch language skills are an advantage
