The steel industry is an energy intensive industry. That means every year tons of GJ are put into use to support production levels, which results in high costs and CO2 emissions.
To bring costs and emissions down, Tata steel works hard to improve its energy performance. Over the years, we managed to achieve outstanding efficiency levels, but to keep improving we need to look at the granular level. One way to do so, is by exploring the use of smart meters and advanced analytics tools.

For this challenge we invite BSc or MSc students with a background in data technologies and an interest in energy topics to dive into a deep analysis with us. Successful candidates have/can:
We expect you to find ways to improve energy efficiency by using advanced tools to analyze smart meters data.
We offer you a paid internship with proper guidance. In consultation with you, we start with drawing up your assignment to make sure that it fits the requirements of your university. You can gain valuable experience within a large organization and Dutch only manufacturing industry. You can count on a no-nonsense and result-oriented organization, within which you can make a concrete contribution to the realisation of improvement objectives.
During your training period you can regularly participate in events such as student tours and lunch lectures. We also offer the possibility to make use of our Library Services.
The Energy Efficiency program conducts systematic analysis of energy consumption at the site in order to identify and implement improvements with regard to energy efficiency and CO2 performance, water costs & consumption reduction. This team not only addresses technical aspects but also managerial and behavioral aspects of new changes in the company to optimize energy consumption.
