Steel industry is an energy intensive industry which leads to big quantities of CO2 emission. The energy comes from the works arising gasses which are produced in various processes. These gasses are used to heat up furnaces and to generate electrical power.
We managed to improve year on year, but still there are many directions to study to improve on energy consumption and reduction of CO2 emissions. We study the application of heat pumps, the usage of our works arising gasses for better purposes, storage of heat, usage of waste heat, utilization of CO2, generation of sustainable energy etc.
We expect you to bring one of the options to improve on energy and CO2 a relevant step further.

In consultation with you, we start with drawing up your assignment to make sure that it fits the requirements of your university. You can gain valuable experience within a large organization and Dutch only manufacturing industry. During your training period you can regularly participate in events such as student tours and lunch lectures. We also offer the possibility to make use of our Library Services.
The Energy Efficiency program conducts systematic analysis of energy consumption at the site in order to identify and implement improvements with regard to energy efficiency and CO2 performance, water costs & consumption reduction. This team not only addresses technical aspects but also managerial and behavioral aspects of new changes in the company to optimize energy consumption.
