The scope of this assignment will consist of two parts:
We are looking for a Master graduate student who is interested in joining the Supplier Quality Assurance department for an Graduation assignment starting in September. We have two internships available within our department suitable for an Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or ICT/business student.
DAF Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) monitors and manages the global DAF supply base towards a zero defect performance. Key building processes are: defect free products, defect free suppliers and continuous improvement.
PACCAR/DAF are developing zero emission vehicles to cover newly emerging markets. These vehicle will be manufactured using components and suppliers not yet known to DAF.
Supplier Quality DAF is the department responsible to manage new product introductions with its global supply base and ensure zero defect launch and subsequent zero defect post-launch performances. In order to be able to identify and/or develop zero defect capable suppliers it is important for the Supplier Quality Manager to understand critical requirements and critical processes related to new commodities such as E-motors, batteries, E-auxiliaries etc.
DAF Supplier Quality also plays an important role in ensuring new DAF products are launched with a consistently high quality level, surpassing our customers’ expectations. Historically, this quality assurance heavily relied and still relies on pre-launch data gathering and statistical analysis (measurement systems, process capability, etc). Industry 4.0 allows for data to flow between supplier and DAF and vice-versa. This connectivity opens the possibility for quality assurance to happen more “immediate” and is likely to change the way we interact with our supply base.
Moreover we use an automotive processes that is called APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) governed by IATF standards. This quality landscape is in constant development and DAF internal processes and supporting IT systems may not always reflect industry best practices. We strive to define an industry best-practice within this topic.
