For this internship we have multiple options for an internship assigment:

Option 1: Define Commodity Best Practices for Zero Emission Vehicle Components
The scope of this assignment will consist of two parts:

  • Understand zero emission vehicle components and their best-in-class manufacturing processes.
  • Create the tools to aid the successful introduction of zero defect products and processes.
  • The assignment is both technical and organizational in nature and will appeal to an international student in Industrial Engineering or similar who wants to deepen his/her understanding of automotive project management and quality risk mitigation processes.

Option 2: Supplier Risk Mitigation Approach DAF Supplier Quality
The scope of this assignment will consist of two parts:
  • A thorough (literature) review to deeply understand APQP requirements and to define an industry best-practice approach for DAF to implement.
  •  A gap analysis between current way-of-working (WoW) and this best practice that will be translated into a set of clearly defined user stories to be used in the agile IT system development.
  • This assignment will appeal to an IT/business student who wants to focus on understanding and defining business processes and developing (and implementing) IT system strategies to allow system users to have a world-class approach towards their customers and stakeholders.

Option 3: Industry 4.0 Supplier Requirements Definition
  • DAF Supplier Quality plays an important role in ensuring new DAF products are launched with a consistently high quality level, surpassing our customers’ expectations. Historically, this quality assurance heavily relied and still relies on pre-launch data gathering and statistical analysis (measurement systems, process capability, etc). Industry 4.0 allows for data to flow between supplier and DAF and vice-versa. This connectivity opens the possibility for quality assurance to happen more “immediate” and is likely to change the way we interact with our supply base.
  • work with the DAF Quality 4.0 project team and define a set of supplier requirements that are critical for both DAF and our suppliers to maximize the joint benefit of (real-time) data sharing in an Industry 4.0 context.
  • The assignment will appeal to a Supply Chain (Quality) or Industrial Engineering student who wants to investigate how Industry 4.0 can be implemented to enhance pro-active supply chain collaboration

Jouw profiel

We are looking for a Master graduate student who is interested in joining the Supplier Quality Assurance department for an Graduation assignment starting in September. Afdeling

DAF Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) monitors and manages the global DAF supply base towards a zero defect performance. Key building processes are: defect free products, defect free suppliers and continuous improvement.

PACCAR/DAF are developing zero emission vehicles to cover newly emerging markets. These vehicle will be manufactured using components and suppliers not yet known to DAF.
Supplier Quality DAF is the department responsible to manage new product introductions with its global supply base and ensure zero defect launch and subsequent zero defect post-launch performances. In order to be able to identify and/or develop zero defect capable suppliers it is important for the Supplier Quality Manager to understand critical requirements and critical processes related to new commodities such as E-motors, batteries, E-auxiliaries etc.

DAF Supplier Quality also plays an important role in ensuring new DAF products are launched with a consistently high quality level, surpassing our customers’ expectations.

Moreover we use an automotive processes that is called APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) governed by IATF standards. This quality landscape is in constant development and DAF internal processes and supporting IT systems may not always reflect industry best practices. We strive to define an industry best-practice within this topic.
