Tinkering with trains, how cool is that! You learn from experienced pros. And that in a small group with a lot of personal attention. Do you get your diploma after two years? Then you definitely have a job as a mechanic!

That is why you want to follow the training as an apprentice mechanic and work at NS

• You will follow your training in a small group with a lot of attention for your personal development.
• From scratch you will learn a lot about service, maintenance and train technology.
• We pay for your education at TechniekFabriek (tuition, clothing, books, train ticket and tools). And we arrange your internships.

Can you imagine it? That in two years you will be working on mega-sized machines as an independent junior mechanic? Maybe you will be doing maintenance on the pneumatic brake systems. Solving a fault in a pantograph. Or renewing the entire interior of a train. During your training at the TechniekFabriek you will learn how the systems work. And you will discover which type of work suits you best. There is a TechniekFabriek in Zwolle, Amsterdam and Berkel-Enschot (near Tilburg).

At each TechniekFabriek we have room for approximately 30 students. This way we can give you a lot of personal attention. Our experienced practical trainers and teachers will teach you the technical skills. In addition, you will receive lessons in Dutch and arithmetic, among other things. And we will help you with your personal development. Because we think it is important that you feel good and enjoy your training and your work.

The training lasts two years. In the first year you will receive theoretical and practical lessons at the TechniekFabriek. In addition, you will have four internships of two weeks. You will then work at one of the NS companies for service, maintenance, train modernization and repair of components. At the end of the year we will choose together which field suits you best. In the second year you will learn that profession in one of our business units. This way you will become a real specialist.

Thanks to your enthusiasm and interest in technology you will have after your training:

• An official MBO 2 diploma in service maintenance technology (SOT).
• Experience in fields such as electrical engineering, pneumatics and mechanics.
• A job as a junior mechanic at NS and many opportunities for growth.

These are the job requirements

• You have completed a pre-vocational secondary education (minimum intermediate level) or you have a transfer certificate from 3 to 4 havo or vwo or you have an mbo diploma at level 2 or higher.
• You are enthusiastic about technology or computers and systems.
• Je wilt graag met je handen werken en werk maken van hoge kwaliteit.
• Je vindt het niet erg om voor een stage te reizen (als het nodig is, regelen wij een hotel voor je).
• Je kunt binnen 45-60 minuten op de TechniekFabriek Amsterdam zijn.

Dit zijn de arbeidsvoorwaarden
Wij betalen je volledige opleiding met alles wat daarbij hoort. Denk aan lesgeld, kleding, boeken en gereedschap. In het eerste leerjaar krijg jij iedere dag een stagevergoeding (€25,47), ook als je les volgt. Gemiddeld krijg je €420,- bruto per maand in het eerste leerjaar! Ook is er een mogelijkheid tot het aanvragen van studiefinanciering (€103,78 per maand). Check de voorwaarden op:

Stroom je door naar het tweede leerjaar van de opleiding? Dan geldt voor jou de NS-cao. Want jij helpt dan mee om Nederland bereikbaar te houden, voor iedereen. Bij NS krijg je veel vrijheid. • Een 36-urige werkweek.
• Vijf weken vakantie (180 uur) op basis van een fulltime dienstverband.

• De mogelijkheid om 3 nationale feestdagen om te ruilen voor 3 niet-nationale feestdagen.

This is where you will work
NS has a TechniekFabriek in Amsterdam, Zwolle and Berkel-Enschot (near Tilburg). Here you will end up in a group of approximately 25 mechanics in training. You can count on a very diverse group. From 16-year-old school leavers to twenty-somethings who are retraining. And you will encounter all kinds of cultural backgrounds here. Every year, beautiful friendships are formed here.

You will receive lessons in train technology from practical trainers and teachers who have a lot of experience as mechanics and teachers. For other subjects, we work together with teachers from the ROC. They support you in the TechniekFabriek. You can easily contact everyone if you have questions. And we like a bit of fun. The most important thing to us is that you feel at home here. Because then learning is also fun.
