About us
Market Infrastructures (MI) is responsible for timely identification of external developments regarding financial market infrastructures (FMIs) and assessing potential impact for ABN AMRO. MI enables relevant stakeholders across the bank to take informed decisions and act upon those external developments. MI represents ABN AMRO within the industry. Additionally, MI is asked to contribute to resolution resilient connections towards the FMIs which is linked to the EU Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive. This will result in growing the MI team from the current 4 FTE to a total of 7 FTE.
Domain expert on FMI developments
You are the key go-to-person for specific external developments related to Financial Market Infrastructures, ranging from innovation, APIs, DLT, Central Bank Digital Currencies to monitoring (global) regulation such as the Digital Finance Package of the European Commission and financial stability (e.g. BIS, FSB, CPMI/ IOSCO). Tasks include;
In general:
You are living ABN AMRO’s culture principles - Care, Collaboration, Courage - and carry these principles out. You understand how detailed developments can affect the financial industry and more specifically ABN AMRO and you know how to bring this message across. You want to continue to improve as a professional and as part of a team.
Working environment
As a domain expert you work within the Commercial Banking Transaction Banking domain but with a bank-wide scope covering payments, securities and markets. External developments like the development of a (potential) digital Euro, implementation of the new SWIFT strategy, the industry migration towards ISO20022, the EU’s Digital Finance Strategy and consolidation of Target2 and Target2Securities (followed by the Eurosystem Collateral Management System) are examples of the topics covered by MI. These topics are addressed internally within stakeholder circles and externally via e.g. participation in various interbank committees. By leveraging an Outside In - Inside Out approach the Bank’s positions are safeguarded efficiently.
Due to the implementation of the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD) continuity of services from our FMI connections must be assured in a resolution scenario to comply. Therefore the services delivered by those FMIs must be assessed in order to contribute towards a strategy ensuring continuity of services for our customers. MI will support the business lines to develop operational plans maintaining access to FMIs. This entails creation of centralised insight of FMI activity including liquidity usage, communication plans, FMI strategy and quantitative reporting to the external Single Resolution Board (SRB).
