Sustainable Finance is becoming a core component of banking. It is top of mind not just for banks, but also very much for the European Commission, as well as regulators and supervisors. Therefore regulations guiding this transition are rapidly being developed, a considerable implementation challenge for the coming years. Do you have affinity with Sustainable Finance and the translation of regulation into requirements for the bank?  This position in the ESG Regulatory Knowledge Centre will provide you with the opportunity to work with a small dedicated team to build up and maintain a thorough knowledge of the developing set of Sustainable Finance Regulations. You will use this knowledge to support the implementation of these regulations in the bank.

Working environment

The ESG Reg Centre will be set up under the Sustainable Finance Regulation (SFR) project which is a bank-wide initiative with scope covering 18 pieces of regulation, various commitments and strategy. Functionally the team is part of Central Risk Management, however the team will provide technical advice to all workstreams in the SFR project implementing SFR regulation (Private Bank, Retail, Commercial Banking and Corporate & Institutional Banking, Risk Management and Finance) by translating how relevant regulations impact the bank’s products, business model, strategy risk management, client interaction etc, as well as how the various regulations interact and are interdependent. You will work closely with amongst others Regulatory policies, Finance policies, Legal, Group Sustainability.


 

Your job

 

  • Closely monitoring of upcoming ESG guidance and regulation from the European Commission, EBA, ECB, ESMA, DNB, AFM etc. Contribute to consultations through industry associations including the Dutch Banking Association NVB
  • Create insight and oversight on all Sustainable Finance Regulation in order to provide recommendation to the bank on impact, implementation choices, strategic priorities and timelines
  • Perform/ support high level impact assessments in order to provide the recommendations mentioned above
  • Provide technical advice on interpretation of regulation
  • Contribute to internal risk policies and more detailed requirements, gap analyses, implementation plans
  • Linking pin with SFR expertise elsewhere in the bank
  • Support and advice regarding interaction with ECB
  • Development of training material in collaboration with other teams.
Your profile

We are looking for candidates who have: 

  • A minimum of 4 years relevant work experience
  • Context awareness. Understanding of the banking business model. Intuition and awareness of expectations of society and supervisors towards banks in general and especially regarding ESG. Knowledge of ABN AMRO vision and strategy
  • Up to date knowledge of SFR regulations. Insight and oversight of the regulatory context and the current developments in the ESG frameworks
  • Proven experience with regulation analysis and implementation
  • Cooperation: you enjoy active cooperation in the team and with stakeholders
  • University level education or proven ability to operate at university level
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a must; professional working proficiency (especially spoken) in Dutch is strongly preferred
