Within TE, the Advanced Development department within the Industrial Solutions business unit is, amongst others, working on Inductively Coupled Power Transfer (ICPT). The aim is to use the ICPT in contactless coupling, a new family of “connectors” that transfers both power and data without a galvanic connection. 

The key part of this ICPT system is a (Half-bridge or Push-pull) driving stage connected to an inductively coupled stage. Aside of the inductor design, the total power that can be transferred depends heavily upon the drive scheme. 

Key Tasks: 

Test and optimize the power transfer and maximum distance of an ICPT system that consists of a driving stage (either Half Bridge or Push-Pull) and a resonant primary stage (coil + capacitor) coupled to a resonant secondary stage (coil + capacitor). Optimization can be obtained via modified driving of the Mosfets involved and or (primary) feedback. Furthermore, exceptional situations should be handled as well.
