APG’s Quantitative Equity team manages one of the largest systematic equity portfolios in the world with more than €80 billion assets under management. The team’s challenge is to manage a portfolio of stocks that outperform the market at a similar level of risk and integrates responsible investment principles. The investment strategies are based on insights from academic literature in the fields of quantitative and behavioral finance. Our ambition is to become a leader in long term and responsible quantitative equity investing for pension funds. Our vision is that research and innovation will be a key enabler to realize this ambition.
Are you drawn to this vision? Students can make a valuable contribution to the research agenda of the team in the form of an (thesis) internship. Assignments can range from new investment signals to developing performance attribution tooling to transaction cost analysis. The work typically involves the use of large historical, possibly unstructured, datasets and/or the design of smart algorithms, including machine learning. Apart from our internship ideas we also welcome your suggestions.
This internship is a unique opportunity for an insider’s look into APG asset management and the world of quantitative investing in particular. The Quantitative Equities team has a lot of experience in supervising students, and has strong academic ties. After graduation there are career opportunities in the form of the APG (quant) traineeship program. A market conform internship salary will be provided.
