Aegon’s Group Corporate Communications department is responsible for building and maintaining a strong and positive reputation for Aegon with internal and external stakeholders to support Aegon’s achievement of its strategy and financial targets. Within Group Corporate Communications is a dedicated Digital Communications Team, responsible for Aegon’s corporate online presence.

Purpose of the internship
Aegon has an exciting learning opportunity to work in the Digital Communications Team within its Corporate Communications Department in The Hague. We’re looking for someone who is interested in digital communications to assist in our global intranet project, aimed at supporting Aegon’s employees globally.
Aegon is launching a new global intranet for its 25,000+ employees and a small international project team is overseeing this project. To help with the execution of various projects we’re looking for a proactive, self-motivated individual who will make the most of this opportunity to work in a small, creative, multicultural, and professionally broad digital team.
One week you may be helping devise a new information architecture and global content strategy for the intranet, the next you might be setting up the change communication across the organization. You may also be helping coordinate user research or setting up guidelines for the internal video channel.
This is an internship for a minimum of six months and will provide valuable experience in a corporate environment for those wishing to pursue a career in digital communications. You should have experience and be a heavy user of social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) and an affinity with websites and emerging technology. You’ve also got to be creative with an eye for design and be native/near native in English. Of course, you should also be comfortable working with a dynamic and diverse international team and be able to reach out and engage with a broad range of stakeholders in different countries.
It’s also important to us that you have a good sense of humour, enjoy working in a diverse and dynamic team and be prepared to work hard, but have fun while doing it.

Some key responsibilities could include:
  • Support with the creation of digital design assets.
  • Perform research into user needs and provide actionable recommendations to improve the user experience on the intranet.
  • Collaborate with international colleagues to improve key sections and the information architecture of the intranet.
  • Assist with authoring and the effective use of online channels for official company news.
  • Monitor user-generated content and disseminate on appropriate channels to improve adoption.
  • Monitor site analytics and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Communicate actively with all main stakeholder and user groups.
  • Support intranet group owners in maintaining active communities on the internal social network.
  • Create and maintain training materials for users of all different levels (including average users, content owners, news authors, group owners).
  • Support the organization of an international (internal) intranet meetings/conference.
  • Support our Social Media Manager by developing and activating an internal ambassador program for use of our internal (enterprise) social network tools.


Profiel
Who we’re looking for:
  • Pursuing a Master’s degree in HCI, Design, Marketing, Communications, Media or other related programme.
  • High level of spoken and written English is a must and experience with content creation a plus.
  • Ability to work in an organised and structured manner to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proactive, high-energy self-starter – able to build relationships.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with a team.
  • Technologically savvy; ability to use Microsoft Office Suite; knowledgeable about the Internet and Social Media trends (and ideally an interest in intranets and Enterprise Social Networks).
Proficiency with design programs, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, and interest/experience in HTML and CSS is a plus, but not essential.


Aanbod
The job is based at Aegon’s head office in The Hague and we will offer you €500,- a month.
